During Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ back-to-school visit, he visited a La Crosse school, took a boat trip and then attended an art class.
Governor Evers spent Monday making art and listening to stories outdoors with students at Summit Environmental Elementary School. The governor also spent a few minutes boating on a pond near French Island Elementary School.

Evers, who spent his career as an educator before becoming Wisconsin’s superintendent of schools and then governor, praised Summit staff for their instruction on nature and the environment.
“The idea that you can be a good steward of the land and have fun doing it at the same time, I think that’s a really important lesson that the kids who go to this school can learn not by reading about it but by doing it,” the governor said.
The governor’s visit to the summit was part of a statewide tour celebrating National Clean Energy Week.
