LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Latino leaders came together to address key issues that impact the well-being and prosperity of Latinos and the state of Massachusetts.
The Dímelo! Talks series is a collaboration between Unidos in Power, The LatinoEDC, Western Massachusetts Development Council, and Bay Path University.
The series aims to highlight the fact that Latinos are the fastest growing young community of people of color and are shaping the present and future of Massachusetts.
The event will feature a series of TED Talk-style presentations, with two Latino experts delivering 15-minute talks focusing on the local and national situation in Latino communities on housing, education, workforce, economic development, health and climate, and immigration.
“We want to impact our community through a variety of focuses, including state health care education, workforce development, so the Latino agenda is a statewide issue. We’re reaching out to business owners, CEOs, banks to make sure that impact is heard, and that’s really what today is about,” said Andrew Melendez, founder of Latino EDC.
After the meeting, a panel of Western Massachusetts state legislators
We will have a lively discussion to outline how the current Congress is addressing the pressing issues facing the Latino community.
