Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are not scheduled to debate again, but they will appear in separate town hall meetings with Latino voters on Univision next month.
The Spanish-language station announced Tuesday that Trump will answer questions in Miami on Oct. 8. Harris is scheduled to take part in a similar rally in Las Vegas on Oct. 10 with Latinos who have yet to decide their support.
Harris challenged Trump to meet her in person again after the ABC debate on Sept. 10. Over the weekend, she accepted an offer to debate on CNN on Oct. 23. But the former president, who had challenged Harris to three debates last month, turned it down, calling it “too late.”
The Univision event will be broadcast with Spanish interpretation, and an English version will also be available on the network’s YouTube channel.
Both events will be hosted by Enrique Acevedo, and Univision said topics will include the economy, jobs, health care, immigration and foreign policy.
Hispanics make up 14.7% of the electorate nationwide, according to the Pew Research Center, and make up larger percentages of the electorate in the key battleground states of Arizona and Nevada, at 25% and 22%, respectively.
“Noticias Univision serves as a two-way bridge: we give every voice to our community while simultaneously conveying Hispanic concerns to those in power,” Noticias Univision president Daniel Coronel said in a statement. “With more than 36 million Hispanics eligible to vote in the United States, they represent the largest minority in the country and have the power to influence the outcome of the race for the White House and the future of our country.”
Tim Waltz and J.D. Vance are set to face off in the only vice presidential debate of the campaign next Tuesday, hosted by Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan on CBS.
