BALTIMORE — Somos Baltimore Latino, a media platform designed specifically for Maryland’s Latino community, reaches thousands of people through its website, social media and monthly newspaper.
This small, family-run business seeks to fill that gap by informing, inspiring and educating.
“We provide information on everything, legal, health, education, but in Spanish,” said founder Pedro Palomino. “The work I’ve done and will continue to do helps many communities in this region, who can watch and read the news in their own language.”
The platform has been recognized by Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Following in his father’s footsteps
Pedro Palomino and his family left their home in Peru and moved to Baltimore in 2001. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a journalist.
Now he engages with Maryland’s Latino community through Somos Baltimore Latino.
“When I was little, I watched my father doing reporting in Peru,” Palomino said, “and I wanted to be a journalist too, so I’m here because of my father.”
His journey to building a media empire in Maryland wasn’t an easy one, and his daughter, who helps translate, says it began with humble beginnings.
“My father started working at home with a computer, then moved to the basement with a desk, which is now his office,” his daughter said.
