This game is officially no longer supported in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Pokémon Unite has been going strong for over three years, but the game’s availability will become even more limited in the coming months. The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group have announced that they will be discontinuing service in two European regions: Belgium and the Netherlands. Starting November 30th, you will no longer be able to play the game on Nintendo Switch or mobile devices in these regions. Fans will still be able to play Pokémon Unite in these regions for the next two months, but in-game purchases will end on October 31st.
“As of November 30, 2025, Pokémon UNITE will be discontinued in Belgium and the Netherlands. After that date, the app will no longer be available for download on mobile devices or Nintendo Switch. In-game items, including Aeos gems and subscriptions, It will no longer be available for purchase after October 31, 2024. All in-game items must be used by November 30, 2025,” the game’s official website states.
At this time, no reason has been given for the decision to discontinue Pokémon Unite in these regions. However, fans have speculated that this could be a result of stricter loot box laws. This would seem like a plausible explanation, as several countries have cracked down on gacha mechanics and loot boxes in recent years. If that’s the reason, some fans are arguing that these elements should be removed from Pokémon Unite entirely, rather than scrapping the game.
Fortunately for fans in North America and other regions, it looks like there are no plans to end support for Pokémon Unite anytime soon. In fact, the game will be introducing two new playable characters over the next two months. Darkrai will join the roster on October 17th. Psyduck has also been announced to be released in November, although a specific date has not yet been confirmed. I’m not sure what their plans are for more additions beyond November, but I hope this game will be supported for a long time to come.
