According to San Diego Police, the manager of OB Noodle House 1502 came to work around 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning and discovered someone breaking into the Ocean Beach restaurant.
Police said the suspect used a crowbar to remove the plywood cover from the broken glass, entered the building and left with the restaurant’s surveillance system.
The general manager of OB Noodle House told NBC 7 this is the second time in the past three weeks that business has taken a hit. The manager said the first break-in occurred a few weeks ago around 2:30 a.m. After the robber gained entry through a window, employees inside escorted the suspect outside.
Restaurant owners on the same block said their businesses were also targeted by robbers.
San Diego police confirmed they are also investigating a separate robbery at Pizzeria Luigi on August 18th. According to police, the suspect broke into a lockbox at Pizzeria Luigi and took keys and other items.
“It’s very scary to think that someone could break into a place where so many of us spend eight hours a day, five days a week,” said Dillon Small, store supervisor at Pizzeria Luigi.
“Ours is about a month old and we have video footage. It looks like a similar person,” Small said.
Mr Small said the robbery had caused significant damage to their business.
“We have to change the way we deliver, and that’s a whole process in itself,” Small said. “We had to make new keys for everyone.”
When your workflow is interrupted, so is your revenue.
“When people steal from you, you’re going to be affected financially. It’s tough when you have to take a loss like that,” Small said.
Small also worries that some personal information may have been compromised.
“People had their paychecks in that safe, they had their banking information, so once you get out there, there’s a lot of work that we have to do to regroup and get back on our feet. ” he said. .
He hopes that spreading the word will lead to justice.
“We hope whoever is doing this is caught so we can keep our community safe,” Small said.
