Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who has come under fire for calling Puerto Rico a “garbage island in the middle of the ocean” at a Donald Trump rally, has made similar racist comments about Asian Americans.
Fellow comic Penn Dunn introduced Hinchcliffe on stage in 2021, but Hinchcliffe was greeted with racial slurs and other offensive language while mocking Penn’s supposed accent.
Dunn posted a video of the incident on social media.
After Penn left the stage, Hinchcliffe said, “One more time for that son of a bitch who was here earlier.” “All you fucking race traitors are hoofing and hollowing out. I was back there watching you fill the fucking bucket.”
Encouraged by the audience’s laughter, Hinchcliffe didn’t stop there and began singing in an exaggerated Asian accent.
“Oh, we’re making gunpowder. Oh, we want to add soy sauce. Oh, you’re borrowing money from us,” he says with a laugh. “Guys, we’re just eating.”
Mr Hinchcliffe defended his comments to The Independent that people “have no sense of humour”. President Trump has been criticized for remaining largely silent on the controversy in the immediate aftermath of his remarks, but he is now trying to make amends with the Puerto Rican community.
“Yeah. I mean, I don’t know if it’s a big deal or not, but I don’t want someone to tell a dirty joke or a stupid joke. According to CNN, he probably shouldn’t have been there.” President Trump told Fox News.
Harris quickly entered the fray. His campaign released an ad that cited Mr. Hinchcliffe’s trash talk and reminded voters of Mr. Trump’s comments after the 2017 hurricane in Puerto Rico.
“I’ll never forget what Donald Trump did. He abandoned the island and offered nothing but paper towels and insults,” Harris’ voiceover says.
