The Business of Fashion BoF 500 Class of 2024 event, held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris during Fashion Week, featured celebrities wearing an eclectic range of looks, from dramatic capes to haute couture. did. Here’s a roundup of the event’s most noteworthy ensembles.
Dramatic cape moment
Shay Mitchell made an unforgettable entrance wearing Willy Chavari’s Spring 2024 red cape, reminiscent of the late Cape King Andre Leon Talley. Capes were juxtaposed with pinstripe shorts, shirts and ties, blurring the line between dramatic flair and business-chic vibes. The contrast in style gave her an unexpected and edgy look that made a bold statement on the red carpet.

I became flat
It’s been a while since Ashley Graham showed off a look that wowed me on the red carpet, and unfortunately, her Caroline Vitto Spring 2025 outfit was no exception. While the look itself had potential with an interesting silhouette, the styling was a failure. In particular, her hair seemed to detract from the entire ensemble and lacked the polish it needed to make the look cohesive and memorable.
Coco Rocha’s avant-garde vision
Infused with the theatricality of a cabaret performance, Coco Rocha brought the ultimate drama to Weinsant’s Fall/Winter 2024 sculptural dress, which she paired with a matching Claudy Linchet headpiece. She embodies a beautiful broken doll look, and only Coco can convincingly recreate it. Her innate ability to bring drama and artistry to her red carpet appearances elevated what could have been a challenging look into an unforgettable moment.

gucci elegance
Davika Hoorn graced the event in an ombre green pleated Gucci Resort 2025 dress. The pleats flowed gracefully and the ombre color effect added depth and movement to the gown. The look is reminiscent of Elle Fanning’s cream version at Cannes earlier this year, but this shade feels fresh. Accessorizing with Gucci’s Bamboo 1947 Mini Top Handle Bag was predictable, and it worked.

Dove Cameron’s departure from goth
Dove Cameron seems to be moving away from her flirtation with goth style. She wore a bold red Richard Quinn Spring 2025 dress accented with a contrasting black bow. Her makeup is also noticeably softer and more neutral compared to her previous dark look. This change made me wonder, is the neo-goth trend starting to die out? Either way, Dove’s red dress was a strong statement piece despite lacking her usual dark edges.

Giambattista Valli Repeat
When Isabella Merced wore a Giambattista Valli Fall 2024 Haute Couture hooded gown at the Alien: Romulus LA premiere last month, it was breathtaking. Marina Rui Barbosa wore the same gown at the BoF event, but did the magic happen twice? Marina definitely looked amazing, but the big earrings she paired with her gown were a hindrance. For a regal piece like this hooded couture gown, less is definitely more when it comes to accessories.

State of undressing
Normani chose Dilara Findikoglu’s Fall/Winter 2023 corset look, which gives the impression of being intentionally undressed. The distressed style had a worn-in feel that is a Findikoguru signature, but here I found myself more intrigued by the artistic metal necklace and cuff than the dress itself. I did. Normani exuded confidence, but missed the mark with a more cohesive look with white pumps.

Victoria Beckham’s consistent pants dilemma
Victoria Beckham’s challenge with pants continues. She seems to prefer longer fits, perhaps meant to look effortlessly chic. However, it often ends up looking sloppy. This event was no exception. The pants didn’t seem to fit. Victoria definitely has a flair for style, but this look could have been executed with more sophistication.
it was only a matter of time
Considering Iseult was styled by Jonathan Huguet, who also styles the always stylish Isabelle Huppert, it was only a matter of time before she wore Balenciaga. But a Pre-Fall 2024 puff coat with an oversized bow didn’t do her any good. It lacked the boldness and charm that Isolt usually embodies. She’s much nicer than this coat suggests, but this look simply didn’t do her justice.
