According to information obtained by The Transcript, the Norman Regional Hospital board met until the early hours of Tuesday morning and voted to accept the resignations of its president and CEO.
The Norman Regional Hospital Authority Board of Directors voted to accept the resignation of President and CEO Richie Splitt, who joined the hospital in 2016 and oversaw the recent relocation of its flagship facility from Porter Street in downtown Norman to its new healthplex at I-35 and Tecumseh Street.
The board of directors appointed Dr. Aaron Boyd and Executive Vice President Rick Wagner as co-CEOs. Dr. Boyd is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Physician, and Wagner is currently Chief Financial Officer. The board will meet today to reorganize functions. Dr. Boyd, Wagner, Elaine Purvis, Brittney McGill and Keith Minnis are the current executive officers.
The board went into standing committee at about 6 p.m. and, except for a short break, continued in standing committee until after midnight. Coming out of standing committee, the board voted to approve the item they had been discussing but did not say what it was. A transcript reporter was present at the meeting.
A source confirmed this to The Transcript this morning.
In 2020, The Journal Record named Splitt the Most Admired CEO in Oklahoma. Splitt, a 32-year veteran of healthcare administration, previously served as chief administrative officer for Norman Regional Healthplex Hospital and Norman Regional Moore. He became CEO in 2016 after his predecessor, David Whitaker, resigned to take a position at Mercy Hospital.
Also at the meeting, the board announced the opening Monday of Norman Regional Care in Goldsby, the second care clinic to open in September in partnership with Norman Regional Health System, with part of the old facility on Porter Street now being an urgent care clinic.
