AUSTIN (KXAN) — MAS Cultura, a local organization that works to connect the Latino community with inspiring resources, is hosting a number of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations for the Austin community.

MAS Cultura is an Austin, Texas-based non-profit founded by Monica Maldonado in 2021. The organization was created to support and advocate for Latinx artists, art, and ideas.

Maldonado, the daughter of a single immigrant mother, founded the organization because she knew firsthand the challenges faced by Latinos navigating life while representing both their Hispanic and American heritage.

Knowing that the arts are an important part of Hispanic culture, Maldonado founded MAS Cultura to bridge the gaps Latinos face when trying to pursue their dreams and to expand opportunities for those seeking them.
This year, it is Hispanic Heritage Month, and Mas Cultura has been celebrating by hosting numerous events for the Austin community to highlight the heritage that local Latinos have built within the community.
