Washington:
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has a 38-point lead over Republican opponent Donald Trump among Asian American voters, according to polls.
The poll, conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago and released on Tuesday, is the first since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July and Vice President Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee.

The 2020 AAVS was conducted from July to September of that year, and 54% said they planned to vote for Biden, 30% for Trump, and 16% were undecided about voting for another candidate.
Additionally, Harris’ favorability rating among Asian American voters increased by 18 points.
The survey found that 62% of Asian American voters said they have a favorable view of Harris, compared to 35% who have an unfavorable view — up from 44% who had a favorable view and 42% who had an unfavorable view in the 2024 AAVS.
Meanwhile, 28% of Asian American voters have a favorable view of Trump, while 70% have an unfavorable view. In the 2024 AAVS, 34% had a favorable view of Trump, while 62% had an unfavorable view.
Polls have revealed that Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, is far more popular as a vice presidential candidate than Republican nominee J.D. Vance.

Thirty-eight percent of Asian American voters said Harris’s identity as a woman was “extremely” or “very” important, compared to 27% who said the same about her Asian Indian or South Asian identity.
The poll also showed that Asian American voters were far more likely to say they had been contacted by Democrats than Republicans.
