Initial estimates from the European Union’s statistics agency Eurostat show that industrial production (seasonally adjusted) in April 2024 decreased by 0.1% in the euro area and increased by 0.5% in the EU compared to March 2024. In March 2024, industrial production in the euro area increased by 0.5% and remained stable in the EU.
Industrial production in April 2024 decreased by 3.0% in the euro area and by 2.0% in the EU compared to April 2023.

Intermediate goods decreased by 0.2%;
Energy increases by 0.3%,
Capital goods increased by 0.5%;
Durable consumer goods increased by 1.0%;
Non-durable consumer goods increased by 3.9%.
The highest monthly increases were in Denmark (+10.4%), Greece (+7.0%) and Poland (+6.7%). The largest declines were seen in Luxembourg (-6.7%), Latvia (-4.9%) and Ireland (-3.4%).

The largest annual declines were in Ireland (-15.7%), Latvia (-7.8%) and Finland (-6.8%). The highest increases were seen in Denmark (+17.4%), Greece (+10.8%) and Slovenia (+7.4%).

Revision and schedule
Compared to the data published in the news release of May 15, 2024, the monthly percentage change for March 2024 was revised from +0.6% to +0.5% in the euro area and from +0.2% to 0.0% in the EU.
