Last week, Heritage Christian Academy won its first District 8 Volleyball Championship.
On Monday, the Lady Warriors earned their first win in the Region 2 tournament.
On Thursday, HCA will play in the region championship game for the first time in its history, seeking its first-ever second region title.
Heritage Christian (23-5) dominated three close sets from Caldwell County to advance to the finals Wednesday night at Hopkinsville High School in the semifinals.
Caldwell took the lead late in the second and third sets, with HCA winning 25-20, 25-22, 28-26.
The Lady Warriors’ next game will be against Union County in the championship game Thursday at 6 p.m. The Bravetes (15-7) had also never won a regional tournament before this week, but now they’re fighting for a title.
Union upset Christian County in four sets in Wednesday’s semifinals, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23, to advance to the final.
Heritage Christian’s attack against Caldwell was led by Katie Canzler and Maia Goodwin. Kanzler missed Tuesday’s season-opening win over Livingston Central with an injury, but returned to action Wednesday with 17 kills and 11 digs.
Goodwin had 16 kills and 18 digs for the Lady Warriors.
Makenzie McCarty had 15 assists, nine digs and three aces, and Hadley Hayes had 13 assists, 20 digs and one kill. Brarie Fowler added two blocks and six digs.
Caldwell finished the season with a 19-10 record, but the Lady Tigers fought a close battle in the final two sets.
Caldwell came back in the second set to take a 21-20 lead. However, HCA then scored four straight points and won five of the next six points.
Caldwell, who trailed 15-11 in the third set, rallied to tie the score at 23-23 and had a chance to take a 26-25 lead and extend the match. However, Heritage earned the final three points of the night to end the contest.
Briley Butts led the Lady Tigers with 14 kills and two blocks.
Benashka Thomas had seven kills, one block and four digs, and Riley Thompson had six kills, 14 digs and two aces.
Kylee White totaled 30 assists, five digs, and four aces. Medellin Thomas had three kills, one block and two digs. Chevy McGowan had two kills and two digs.
Caldwell got 24 digs from Micah Riddle, 11 digs from Anna Giltz, seven digs from Maddie Cooper and six digs from Morgan Akins.
The winner of Thursday’s HCA Union will host the first round of the KHSAA state volleyball tournament.
