Gov. Tony Evers’ back-to-school visit included a visit to a La Crosse school and an art tour on a boat.
Governor Evers spent Monday making art and listening to stories outdoors with Summit School students. He also spent a few minutes Monday boating on a pond near the school on French Island.

Evers, who spent his career as an educator before becoming Wisconsin’s superintendent of schools and then governor, praised Summit staff for their instruction on nature and the environment.
“The idea that you can be a good steward of the land and have fun doing it at the same time, I think that’s a really important lesson that the kids who go to this school can learn not by reading about it but by doing it,” the governor said.
Governor Evers attended an outdoor reading session outside the summit.
The governor’s visit to the summit was part of a statewide tour celebrating National Clean Energy Week.
