Many of Hollywood’s biggest stars had endorsed Biden before he withdrew from the race, but have since switched their support to Harris. Olivia Rodrigo endorsed Harris, sharing a video of Vice President Kamala Harris’ speech in which she promised to “stop Donald Trump’s extreme anti-abortion policies.” Democratic fundraiser George Clooney, who called on Biden to withdraw from the race in an essay for The New York Times, endorsed Harris, while Barbra Streisand said she would support Harris, who has vowed to fight for reproductive rights. Director Spike Lee, “The West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin and director Ken Burns have endorsed Harris, along with actresses Rosie O’Donnell and Jamie Lee Curtis. Robert De Niro, who narrated the Biden campaign ad, did not mention Harris, but said, “Nothing is more important to our country than defeating Donald Trump at the ballot box,” and praised the president’s “selfless patriotism.” British pop artist Charlie XCX brought Harris into the Gen Z fold by tweeting, “Kamala is a brat.” In response to the endorsement, Harris’ team changed the background photo of her X account to the green color of a brat, using the same font used in Charlie XCX’s album of the same name. Rapper Cardi B, who said in May that she would not endorse Biden, tweeted, “Hahahaha, let’s go, I told you all Kamala was supposed to be the nominee in 2024…” Pop musician Kesha said she planned to endorse Harris in November, and when asked what she thought of Vance, she replied, “That guy is shit.” Beyoncé has not publicly endorsed Harris, but gave her permission to use her song “Freedom” in a video of her first official visit to the campaign headquarters, a rare endorsement from a superstar musician. Beyoncé’s mother, businesswoman Tina Knowles, endorsed Harris in an Instagram post. Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, as well as former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have also endorsed Harris. Former President Jimmy Carter (99 years old) reportedly told his son last week that he hopes to live to his 100th birthday and vote for Kamala Harris. Sex and the City actress and former New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon endorsed Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz, in a post saying, “Waltzing on air!” Billionaire Mark Cuban, who previously said he would vote for Biden, endorsed Harris and recommended Waltz as his running mate, calling him “someone who makes you feel like you’ve known her forever when you sit at the kitchen table.” Actor Tony Goldwyn, Republican political commentator Ana Navarro, comedian Mindy Kaling, and actress Kerry Washington supported the Harris-Waltz campaign by hosting the night of the Democratic National Convention. Nick Offerman, Jane Fonda, Ben Stiller, Kathy Griffin, John Stamos, Ed Helms, Tiffany Haddish, and Ike Barinholtz appeared at the “Comics for Harris” virtual rally via Zoom, which reportedly raised nearly $500,000 for the Harris campaign. Over Labor Day weekend, a fundraiser for the Democratic candidate was hosted in Southampton, New York, by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and fashion designer Tory Burch, among others. According to Bloomberg, actors Matt Damon and Lin-Manuel Miranda will attend a fundraiser in New York City in September to support Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz, with tickets on sale for $25,000 a pop.
