Hispanics are more likely to have negative than positive views of people using Latinx languages more frequently.
About a third (36%) of those who have heard the term say it is very or somewhat bad that people use Latinx more often. A significant minority (12%) said this was somewhat or very good. However, 38% said they were neutral and 14% said they were unsure.
Additionally, women, young people, Democrats, lesbian, gay, and bisexual Latinos who are familiar with Latinx are more likely than others to say that increased use of the term is a bad thing. It’s low.
By gender, 27% of women say the increased use of Latinx languages is somewhat or very bad. Men are also more likely to say the same (44%).
