At least five major construction projects are underway in downtown Boise, and some business owners say it’s causing headaches.
BOISE, Idaho — As construction continues in downtown Boise, road closures are affecting drivers as well as businesses. Crazy Neighbor on Grove Street between 14th and 15th Streets said pedestrian flow has slowed.
But they are looking forward to seeing construction finish and the final product come together.
“We’re going to see a lot more people in this area,” Crazy Neighbor manager Cinda Robbins said. “It’s going to be a lot more inviting, with a lot more activities.”
Robbins said she’s heard from customers that construction has made it hard to find the store, even though they’ve prepared.
“I knew this was coming, but it’s really tough,” Robbins said.
Jennifer Hensley, president of the Downtown Business Association, said the construction could create headaches for stores, but it’s inevitable given how quickly Boise is growing.
“The reality is we live in a growing city in a growing region,” Hensley said.
She said the store will remain open even if customers have to park in a parking lot and walk a block or two to get to the store.
“They’re still here, still serving you and still giving you all the things you love,” Hensley said.
