CBRE has hired Brett Gray as senior managing director and market leader for Charlotte, effective from November. Gray joins the national real estate services firm from rival Cushman & Wakefield, where he had served as managing principal since 2017.
Gray will oversee business operations and go-to-market strategy for all advisory services business lines, including leasing, sales, debt and structured financing, valuation and property management. Gray announced the move in an IlkedIn post in August and CBRE made the move public today.
Compy Newman, who has led the firm in Charlotte, will transition to a new role, CBRE said in a statement.
“We are excited to have a 20-year industry veteran like Brett Gray lead our Charlotte operation,” said Chris Connelly, president, eastern region, of CBRE’s Advisory Services Group. “Brett has earned a strong reputation in the industry for building a culture of success for his teams and clients.”
Gray serves on the Executive Committee of the Charlotte Area Business Federation. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he is ranked one of the state’s most influential business executives according to the Business North Carolina Power List.
“I am excited to join a world-class organization like CBRE, which boasts a differentiated financial position, top-tier talent and skilled leadership in Charlotte and around the world,” Gray said.
