New World Wealth tracks the movements of more than 150,000 HNWIs in its in-house database, with a particular focus on HNWIs with over $30 million in assets held in publicly traded companies. The primary focus of this database is on company founders (more than 50% of the database) and high-value company individuals in positions such as chairman, CEO, president, director, and managing partner.
The company uses a variety of public sources to locate cities, including LinkedIn and other business portals. Therefore, the statistics are primarily based on the individual’s work location. That data also takes into account key real estate statistics. Specifically, it takes into account the number of high-priced homes in each area.

For the purposes of this report, “asset” refers to an individual’s liquid investable assets. The term “centimillionaire” refers to an individual with liquid investable assets of US$100 million or more.
Relationship between wealth and GDP
We believe that assets are a much better measure of an economy’s fiscal health than GDP. Reasons for this include:
In many countries, a large portion of GDP flows to the government, with little or no impact on private wealth creation. GDP counts items multiple times. For example, if a person pays US$100 for one product or service and pays another person the same US$100 for another product or service, the It adds 200 USD to the country’s GDP. Although GDP largely ignores the influence of real estate and stock market movements, it is clear that these two factors have a significant impact on wealth creation. GDP is a relatively static metric and tends to fluctuate only slightly year over year. There is also a time lag.
Asset amounts, on the other hand, do not have these limits and are therefore a more accurate measure of an economy’s true fiscal health than GDP numbers.
