Chill Thrills: Last weekend, Lenny Kravitz dug an oversized scarf out of his closet, went for a walk in the park, and posted a video to Instagram with the caption, “Here we go again…”
The singer celebrated the arrival of fall with a reference to a 2012 photo of her being snapped by paparazzi wearing a comically large wool wrap, which became a meme.
“Yes, summer is over,” Kravitz said at the show, held on a cold, rain-soaked stage in the courtyard of Saint Laurent’s headquarters in Paris on Tuesday night. “That scarf comes out once a year.”
The “Let Love Rule” performer will be heading back to warmer climes soon, as he kicks off his “Blue Electric Light” tour in Europe this summer before landing a residency at Park MGM in Las Vegas in October.
“This two-week residency will be our full show,” he said. “It’s very, very simple, but very soulful. We’ll have amazing musicians onstage playing music from the last 35 years.”
This will be his first permanent residency in Sin City. “I think in a way it’s easier because I’m not traveling every day. I’ll be on the same stage every night, so I think that’s going to be a good part of this project, so I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
Kravitz posed for photos at the star-studded event alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Theroux and François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Saint Laurent’s parent company, Kering.
Rami Malek, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, Anthony Boyle, Maika Monroe, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Iris Law all sat beneath curved, shiny gold awnings at the brand’s second show, which began around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Blackpink’s Rosé rocked curls as she caught up with Nicole Richie, while Amelia Gray strutted in a backless, transparent mesh top. “It’s freezing cold,” she laughed. Zoe Kravitz, Lila Moss, Abbey Lee and Anja Rubik also defied the elements in see-through looks.
Laura Harrier opted for a ruffled, off-the-shoulder mini dress, but threw on an ankle-length black leather coat after stopping by the photocall. The American actress plays music industry pioneer Suzanne De Passe in the Michael Jackson biopic “Michael,” due for release next year.
“She’s such an incredible woman and I was so lucky to get to spend time with her and ask her questions,” Harrier said of preparing for the role.
“She discovered Michael Jackson, she discovered Lionel Richie. She played a significant role in Diana Ross’ career. It was really amazing to hear the behind-the-scenes stories of these artists that we know and love so well,” she added.
When asked what her favorite Michael Jackson song is, Harrier didn’t hesitate: “I think I would have to choose ‘Beat It’ because it’s been my favorite song since I was a kid,” she said. “That song has been with me my whole life.”
Kid Cudi was in New York for a party celebrating the 15th anniversary of his first album at electronic music club Fvtvr, and while the video for his new song “Don’t Worry” may be a love letter to New York, the rapper also has a huge debt of gratitude to the French capital.
“The ‘Don’t Worry’ video was perfect because I got to go out and meet my fans. I’d love to do the same in Paris because I have a big fan base here,” Cudi said.
“I want to do a film in Paris and go to the clubs and places I used to go to when I first got here and show my love in that way,” he added.
Meanwhile, he will return to Paris Fashion Week in January for the first presentation of his clothing brand, Members of the Rage.
