There’s a big vote on Tuesday for Ossining voters, who will have their say on a $210 million bond proposal from the Ossining Unified Free School District.
“It takes a village to raise this many children, so any more we can do to support the town and the schools, I’m all for it,” Ossining resident Amy Herrera said.
The proposal aims to make significant improvements and renovations to schools in the district, including adding classrooms and several other significant renovations.
“It’s a new middle school building. The district purchased the church next to the high school a few years ago and was able to renovate it and turn it into a useful space,” said Christine Mangiamere, superintendent of the Ossining Unified Free School District.
One of the major goals is to solve the problem of overcrowding in schools.
“If you look at our cafeteria you can see there isn’t enough space for everyone. Right now our high school classrooms are at 100% occupancy, with two classes sometimes happening in the same classroom at the same time,” Mangiamere said.
Upgrading will not increase your taxes.
