The incident happened outside Hush, a hookah and cigar lounge on Magnolia Avenue in Five Points South, an entertainment district with restaurants and nightlife. “It’s very unfortunate that something like this would happen right next to our business and it’s impacted our business,” said Pintu Surma, general manager of Bayleaf in the Five Points area. Surma said weekends are typically a busy time, but customers are staying home after the recent incidents. “We’ve had over 16 reservations canceled today. “We’ve had a lot of people calling us asking if we’re OK and we don’t know what’s going on here,” Surma said. >> Video: The morning after the shooting Surma said his community doesn’t feel like home anymore. “A couple of years ago it was great. According to Birmingham police, four people were killed and 17 others were shot when multiple gunmen opened fire on people outdoors Saturday night.
The incident happened outside Hush, a hookah and cigar lounge on Magnolia Avenue in Five Points South.
It’s an entertainment district with restaurants and nightlife.
“It’s very unfortunate that something like this happened right next to our store and it has impacted our store,” said Pintu Sarma, general manager of Bayleaf in the Five Points area.
Sarma said business usually booms on weekends, but after recent events, customers are staying home.
“More than 16 reservations were cancelled today. So many people called me asking if I was OK, I don’t know what’s going on with the store,” Sarma said.

Sarma said her community no longer feels like home.
“Two or three years ago it was very good. It was beautiful, very nice, business was very good. But now it’s a terrible place,” Sarma said.
