The Bears will honor the rich contributions of Latinx culture and history within the organization and the broader community by participating in the 2024 National Celebration of Latinx Heritage Month, which will be held from September 15th to October 15th. I’m proud to be a part of it.
The Bears will have a series of moments for the Chicagoland community to engage with the club throughout Latino Heritage Month, presented by Miller Lite.
Throughout Latin American Heritage Month and throughout the year, the Bears participate in events that resonate with Latin American culture and tradition. Bears players regularly volunteer on their days off during the season, and staff members also participate in community activities, reflecting the team’s commitment to positively impact Chicagoland’s Latino neighborhoods. Mexican Independence Day Parade: On September 15, the Bears will partner with Miller Lite to unveil a co-branded float and participate in the Mexican Independence Day Parade in the Little Village area. Several members of the Bears’ front office, as well as Staley Da Bear presented by Shell, Monster Squad and the Chicago Bears Drumline, will all participate in the celebration. The parade’s theme, “Celebrando Nuestras Tradiciones,” focuses on the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Mexican community. Mini Monster Clinics: Throughout Latino Heritage Month, the Bears will host mini Monster Clinics provided by Advocate Children’s Hospital in primarily Latino communities, including the suburbs of Waukegan and Elgin. These clinics will focus on educating elementary school students about healthy eating, physical activity, and proper hydration through non-contact soccer drills taught by Bears players and alumni. High School Latino Heritage Game: On September 27, the Bears supported the annual High School Latino Heritage Game at Solorio High School in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood, recognizing the school’s contributions to the growth of the sport. Highlight and celebrate Latinx culture with our community. The event will feature both girls flag football and boys varsity football, with Solorio taking on Washington High School. The Bears will provide entertainment including Staley Da Bear, the Chicago Bears Drumline, a DJ and fan giveaways to recreate the game-day atmosphere at Soldier Field. Former Bears offensive lineman Roberto Garza will also be in attendance, speaking with players and fans and signing autographs. Carrera de los Muertos 5K: On November 2, members of the Chicago Bears front office will participate in the Carrera de los Muertos 5K (Race of the Dead 5K) in the Pilsen area. This fundraising race celebrates Latin American culture and raises funds for the UNO GirlsMPowered program, which provides essential programs to empower young girls. The GirlsMPowered program empowers and inspires young Latina women in the Pilsen community through networking, leadership development, and mentorship opportunities to foster confidence and growth in both their education and future professional careers. Latino Heritage Monthly Game vs. Los Angeles Rams on September 29th
The Bears’ annual Latino Heritage Monthly Game, presented by Miller Lite, will take place during Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field. Fans can expect an exciting blend of cultural celebrations, special live performances, in-game recognition, and special perks that celebrate the tremendous contributions of the Latinx community. PRE-GAME LIVE PERFORMANCE: Traditional Latin music fills Soldier Field with two standout performances. Mariachi Sirenas, Chicago’s first all-female mariachi group, will perform at the Field Museum’s Miller Lite Ultimate Tailgate, delivering a lively performance that blends Mexican tradition with a modern twist. Ballet Folklórico de Chicago, the city’s largest Mexican folk dance troupe, will perform at the Vizzy Hard Seltzer Fun Zone, creating a colorful and dynamic traditional Mexican dance that celebrates Mexico’s rich cultural heritage. will perform the dance. National Anthem: The national anthem will be performed by Jesús Ramos, a proud Mexican-American from Pilsen who has made his mark on the mariachi music scene. Spanish-language broadcast: Game highlights will feature Spanish-language broadcast team Omar Ramos and Mateo Moreno, enhancing the experience for Spanish-speaking fans on Latino Mix 93.5 FM. “Bear Down” in Spanish: The Spanish translation of “Bear Down” will be displayed on ribbon panels throughout the stadium, inviting fans to sing along to celebrate the Bears. Latino Youth Leader Award: Before the game, the Bears will award the Latino Youth Leader Award to two outstanding Latino high school students. The award honors academic excellence, community service, advocacy for the Latino community, leadership skills, character, and resilience. These honorees will also serve as honorary captains for the game and join the Bears captains in tossing the coin. Latino Heritage-Themed Helmets: A special exhibit of Latino Heritage-themed Bears helmets will be featured at Soldier Field, with each helmet displaying a unique design that reflects various Latino cultures and traditions . Latin-inspired team flag: The Chicago Bears Monster Squad will present and wave a Latin-inspired team flag as players run out of the tunnel during pregame introductions. Game Day Giveaways: Special Latino Heritage Month giveaways designed by local artist Alex Cruz will be available at Miller Lite Ultimate Tailgates, including limited edition hats and posters.
