ALA President and General Manager of the National Lottery of Côte d’Ivoire (LONACI), Dramane Coulibaly, stressed the importance of the meeting in paving the way for Nigeria, Mauritius and South Africa to join the association.
“The Executive Committee meeting serves as a preparatory step for the General Assembly,” Coulibaly said in his opening remarks. With the addition of these three new members, the ALA is poised to increase its membership to 18.
The association’s leadership, consisting of a president, five vice-presidents, a secretary-general and an executive committee, was elected in 2020 for four-year terms. Dramaine Coulibaly was up for re-election in March 2024.
The goals of the ALA include facilitating cooperation, solidarity and technical assistance among its members, promoting responsible gambling and combating financial crimes such as money laundering. To achieve these goals, leaders of the participating lottery companies formed the association.
